hi linette,your absolutly right,you should be able to drive off almost immediately just as you would in your car[hence the term drivability]its ok to drive with the choke half out for those first couple of miles if you need to . if you left it out alittle too long,it would probably stall when yo came to a stop.i generally push mine in within 2 miles before i come to a stop.[for ODL good luck with your new savage!]drive safe every one.Giro
